# Observations

Observations capture clinical measurements — vital signs, lab results, social history, and exam findings.

## Create a Vital Sign

## Blood Pressure (Multi-Component)

Blood pressure uses the `component` field for systolic and diastolic values:

## Categories

| Category         | Description             | Examples                          |
| ---------------- | ----------------------- | --------------------------------- |
| `vital-signs`    | Vital sign measurements | Heart rate, BP, temperature, SpO2 |
| `laboratory`     | Lab test results        | Glucose, CBC, metabolic panel     |
| `social-history` | Social/behavioral data  | Smoking status, alcohol use       |
| `exam`           | Physical exam findings  | Lung sounds, reflexes             |

## Interpretation Codes

| Code | Meaning         |
| ---- | --------------- |
| `N`  | Normal          |
| `H`  | High            |
| `L`  | Low             |
| `A`  | Abnormal        |
| `HH` | Critically high |
| `LL` | Critically low  |
